Add-In problem with Office 2010 64-bit

The Office family 2010 will be available also as 64bit version.

64-bit is faster than 32-bit and it makes it possible to use more memory than 4GB. But the 64-bit Office version has a great disadvantage: Most of the existing Add-Ins for Office can only be used with the "old" 32-bit version and will not be changed to 64-bit.

The Add-Ins from outlook-stuff.com are also only available in 32-bit and will not migrated to 64-bit (too expensive).

It will be better for most of the users to install the 32-bit version of Office on their 64-bit operating system. This is possible without problems.

Microsoft® recommend to use the 32-bit Version. You do not need the 64-bit version except you are working with Excel® sheets > 2GB.

If you already have installed the 64-bit version you can downgrade to 32-bit easily because your Outlook® profile and data will remain and automatically implemented when installing the 32-bit version.
