If the attachment of an email is opened in Microsoft® Office Outlook® (e.g. a word file), this attachment will be stored in a hidden subdirectory called OLKXX.

If there are too many files in the folders, Outlook® might show error prompts that indicate access problems. These subdirectories are normally not visible in the explorer and therefore can't be deleted. But a deletion in a DOS box is possible.

The vb-script DeleteOLKs* does this work for you. Right before the deletion of a directory there is a confirmation promt. If no OLK folders were found in the user profiles the actual OLK folder will be read from the registry and opened (deleting is not always successfully by the script). If you want to execute the script, Outlook® has do be shut down (you might check in the task managers if the process Outlook.exe is still running). The tool was only tested with Windows® 2000/XP.

Alternatively to this script you can clear the OLK folder automatically on every Outlook® shutdown.
